  1. So this is my explanation, that essentially what 
  2. you have are millions of people out there who 
  3. absorbed McLuhan with their mother‚Äôs milk, as it 
  4. were, in college, and who are ready to be 
  5. resummoned to a new view of popular culture. 
  6. These are the people who in fact buy my books. 
  7. People are always trying to carry on about me, 
  8. and saying I‚Äôm sort of a symptom of a patriarchy 
  9. or for the far right, or something like that, which is 
  10. ridiculous. My real audience are all those people, 
  11. scattered around the globe now, who are 
  12. authentic ‚Äò60s people, who have been displaced 
  13. from the cultural centre by those untouched by 
  14. McLuhan and everything else.
